Arrival in Asia
I left for India on March 4th, 2010. It was my first trip to Asia and my first time travelling with a ‘significant other.’ I felt some trepidation over travelling with Shawn in a Country that was sure to test our patience, independence and relationship. Little did I know I was in for the most rewarding travel experience of my life!
1st Travelogue Entry – Written March 5th, 2010
Shawn and I just arrived in Bangalore after a grueling 30 hours of travel. After a 12 hour flight to China, a relatively brief stop over in Beijing and a 7hr flight to Delhi, we then decided that we might as well keep going and head straight to South India. We had already been travelling 20 some odd hours so why not punish ourselves a little more?!?
Bangalore is hot, but not too hot and we have checked ourselves into a decent, mid-range hotel with air-conditioning… our treat to ourselves! I am more than excited to rest after almost two full days of traveling. The people here are friendly… and curios (guess being so pale draws some attention).
Tomorrow we head to the province of Kerala to a place on the coast called Kochin. It is an ancient trading centre and fort that still retains some of it’s Portuguese influence. I can’t wait to see more of India, however I am not looking forward to the 13hr train ride. I guess it’s time to start a new book… finished one on the way here!
